Return to Home Page Governor Timothy M. Kaine was on hand to encourage Albemarle CiderWorks as a promising new agribusiness venture for Virginia. Robert S. Bloxom brought words of encouragement from the Virginia Secretariat of Agriculture and Forestry. One young guest discovers one of the heirloom apples used in the unique cider blends. The wooden box and the apple were the highlight of the event for him! Todd Shelton, another member of the Shelton clan, is on hand with his wife, Carrie, and baby daughter to celebrate the Grand Opening!

Many supporters and well-wishers were on hand to open the Albemarle CiderWorks Tasting Room on July 13th. The event, by invitation only, featured remarks by Virginia Governor Timothy M. Kaine; David Slutzky, Chairman of the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors; Robert S. Bloxom, Secretary of the Secretariat of Agriculture and Forestry; and a special presentation to the Shelton Family from T. Robins Buck, Project Manager for Agribusiness Development Services for the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Chuck Shelton, Cider Maker, welcomes guests to the Grand Opening ceremony. Behind him are Governor Timothy M. Kaine, Charlotte Shelton, and Robert S. Bloxom.
David Slutzky, Chairman of the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors welcomed the Cidery as a promising new Agriculture business venture for the County. Governor Timothy M. Kaine, second from left, congratulated the Shelton family on an exciting Agricultural venture that is a promising model for Virginia agribusiness. To the left is Chuck Shelton, and to the right is his mother, Mary Margaret Shelton. To her right is Bill Shelton. Charlotte Shelton, business manager for Albemarle CiderWorks, invites her special guests to inaugurate the new Tasting Room with a special toast.
Guests enjoyed the unique flavors of the three cider labels available. An enthusiastic crowd opened the Tasting Room with approval and enthusiasm. Governor Kaine also appreciated the unique flavor of the cider blends.
