BURBANK
is a Japanese-type plum, introduced nearly 100 years ago by Luther Burbank. It has big firm, sweet tasting, crimson-colored fruit. The plums are semi-freestone, which means they partially separate from the pit. Trees should be pollinated with Santa Rosa. They are precocious and productive, and often set extremely heavily, which can lead to fungal disease such as brown rot spreading quickly, causing biennial bearing. The trees are low growing, flat topped, and with drooping limbs. Burbank trees tolerate more cold than some of the other Japanese cultivars.
