...from the rich orchard heritage of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains Champion Quince |
CHAMPION is one of the eight American varieties of quince, and also one that is sweet enough to eat fresh. It has very large, uniform fruit of excellent flavor, and it bears heavily when young. The tree is of medium vigour, spreading, with medium sized leaves, and it flowers in early-to-mid season. Ripening time is late August well into November. Quinces can be cooked for jellies and preserves, or baked with lemon and brown sugar, like apples.
