Harrow Delight Pear

HARROW DELIGHT comes from the Agriculture Canada station at Harrow. This is a high-quality, early, fresh market pear with excellent blight resistance. It is also resistant to pear scab. The fruit is similar to Bartlett in appearance with excellent flavor and smooth flesh. The fruit is 5% smaller than Bartlett; ovate-pyriform in shape, shallow, with a broad basin. The flesh quality is high, juicy, with grit equal to that of Bartlett, and the flavor is as good as that of Bartlett but distinctly different. The skin is light-green to yellow-green in color, covered with a light blush, and no russeting. It ripens two weeks before Bartlett. The tree is spreading with a moderate vigor and is productive. Fruit ripens in early September. Needs a pollenizer.
