RIO OSO GEM is a very old variety and a peach with character. It is not cosmetically perfect, since it has swollen sutures and an occasional huge, bulging wart. But it was the first freestone peach recognized to possess firm, non-browning flesh suitable for freezing and having what has been termed a distinctive “orange” flavor. This peach is an old favorite among many peach lovers.
