Rosired Bartlett Pear

rosired bartlett

ROSIRED BARTLETT is a red sport of the Bartlett pear. The fruit is identical except for the skin color. This variety was introduced in Placerville, California, by James W. Sweeney, in 1963. The fruit size is comparable to Bartlett and is oblong, obtuse, pyriform., tapering toward apex, symmetrical, and uniform. The skin is thin, tender, maroon red at maturity, with dots smaller and much less conspicuous than on Bartlett. The flesh is white, similar to Bartlett, and is juicy, fine-grained, melting, buttery, with a good flavor that is aromatic and mild. It is used for dessert and canning. Tree size is medium, generally similar to Bartlett. It is vigorous, hardy, upright, a regular bearer, and very productive.
