Vintage Virginia Apples

While apples are our primary focus at Vintage Virginia Apples -- and we grow a number of early apples such as Summer Rambo, Carolina Red June, Yellow Transparent, Red Astrachan and newer varieties like MonArk and Pristine -- summer calls to mind the succulent peaches, plums, tomatoes and other crops that have a superior flavor when picked ripe from the tree and vine. At Rural Ridge, we grow some 25 varieties of peaches and several different plums, pears, cherries, quince and other fruits. As these trees mature, we will offer these fruits at the farm. Presently, we invite you to share our pleasure in these treats at our Summer Fruit Tasting Open House.

You may enter both categories--prizes for best entry in both categories.

Entries must be presented by 11 a.m., Saturday, August 2, 2008. Accompany each entry with Name, Phone, Address, Name of entry, and Names of varieties of fruits and vegetables used in the prepartation of your entry or entries.

Summer on the farm brings a flood of fresh peaches, tart summer apples, heirloom tomatoes, sweet corn, succulent melons, beans, squash, cucumbers and other vegetables. Join us to taste and enjoy this bounty.
